Carolyn Laine: Enemy of Liberty & Freedom
House District 50A came across a fund raising letter sent out by the Carolyn Laine camp and it had multiple statements showing her true colors. She is simply a command and control socialist.
LETTER HIGHLIGHTS
"As the other party moves further and further into the rigid rhetoric of attack and divisiveness"
Carolyn has a history of not wanting to talk about facts and issues. She believes that pointing out that her stance is incorrect and offering an alternative solution or stance is an "attack". We have many issues that divide us, and that is not a bad thing it allows us to present a differing set of views that allow the voters to determine which is correct. I would strongly suggest that Ms. Laine have a frank, factual and honest discussion with the opposition and voters to come up with what is the best way to keep the State of Minnesota strong. When it comes to reaching across the aisle all Ms. Laine is concern with is pulling them to her side with whatever means she has at her disposal.
"The resources we use to create our infrastructure for transportation, protection, food supply and all else that provides for our comfortable lifestyle - how do we share in these commons?"
I would like to ask Ms. Laine to clairify this poorly worded statement. Is she suggesting that the government is to determine where/when people may travel? Or when they are allowed to travel? Is she stating that the government should control the food supply, determining who is allowed access to food? The free market determines this, because of the power of capitalism our people do not starve to death.
"The ethics, accountability and personal responsibility that provids the bottom-line trust we need to live together - how do we together insist on these behaviors"
Again, Ms. Laine acts as though ethics and personal responsibility is the role of government to legislate. We all recieve our ethics and personal responsibility from our family and our religious instruction. In our Republic personal responsibility is key to its success. We should stop attacking religious institutions and embrace them as a partner in society. The Constitution allows us freedom of religion and a seperation of Church and State. Ms. Laine is often confused as to what this means.
Freedom of Religion allows us the ability to practice our beliefs without government restricting our access to it. The seperation of Church and State allows autonomy from each other. Simply put, Religion cannot instruct the government how to act and the government is not able to instruct the Church (religion) how to act. If Ms. Laine truly wants personal responsibility she should be fighting against any legislation that restricts religious institutions from being able to speak out about anything they wish as they are still the moral authority in our society for the vast majority of our members.
We also ask that Ms. Laine clarify if "insisting" on behavior is her intentions to further legislate personal behavior based on what she deems is the "right" way. You've fully supported the ban on smoking, what are you going to ban next?
"I love our representative democracy that focuses us on government as a shared tool to create opportunity and empowerment of all!"
Ms. Laine clearly needs a history lesson. We do not have a Democracy but a Republic that is ruled by a Constitution. Democracy, even a representative one is a dangerous concept that allows 51% of the population to control everything the other 49% does. We can see why Ms. Laine believes we live in a Democracy since she constantly ignores the Constitution of the United States and the State of Minnesota when it does not fit what she is attempting to achieve.
In addition, our society was not set up by our founders for us to "focus on government", nor is government supposed to be used to create opportunity and empowerment. We are allowed the pursuit of happiness, not the guarantee of it. Government's role is to make sure that GOVERNMENT doesn't get in the way of each individuals pursuit.
